Who can use Homeopathy.

Who can use Homeopathy?

Anyone. Homeopathic remedies are safe and can also be given to pregnant women, babies and children. In fact, pregnancy and childhood are excellent times to treat, in order to strengthen the constitution and immune system.

These are just a few examples of how homeopathy can help you.

Homeopathy for children.

The World Health Organisation defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease." Homeopaths define health further as the ability to adapt to any stressful circumstances that may affect our lives - physical, environmental, emotional.

We may talk about a child᾿s level of health resonating at a high level, where they have a strong immune system, or a lower level, where they are vulnerable and susceptible to disease.

The healthy child is full of vitality, with sparkling eyes and glowing skin, curious and inquisitive about the world around them. These children rarely get ill, except perhaps with the occasional cold, but if they do come down with a minor illness, it lasts for a short time and then they bounce back to their normal, happy self.

Contrast these children with many, who have permanent runny noses, persistent coughs, constant infections, allergies and as a result have poor energy and vitality. Some of these children have had frequent infections since they were tiny and have had many courses of antibiotics, which will have further lowered their resistance to disease and immunity. Others will have been diagnosed with asthma and are dependent on inhalers for the foreseeable future. Many children are being covered with steroid creams on daily basis for eczema. All of these commonly prescribed medications are highly toxic drugs, even though in our modern society their frequent use appears to be taken for granted. While it may be appropriate to prescribe these drugs on occasions of emergencies, how many parents would like these medications to be taken by their children on a daily basis for many years, without knowing their full effect on children᾿s immune system and health?

Other children exhibit behavioural problems and learning difficulties, which appears to be on the increase. Many of these children are unhappy, anxious and depressed, or are angry and full of rage, sometimes even displaying violent tendencies. Others can be hyperactive and restless, unable to control their energy and are often disruptive both in the home and in school or nursery, causing distress to their families and carers.

Homeopathic remedies are suitable for babies and children. Children are far fitter and healthier than many of adults and respond really well to their treatment. Their energy system is far less tampered with and so will often react very quickly, needing only a few doses of remedy. As we grow up and we are more prone to chronic diseases, then homeopathic treatment becomes more complex and may need more frequent prescriptions. When a childhood has been satisfactory, with a good relationship between parents, open communication, discussions of the problems and anxieties, children are more likely to go into puberty with reasonable confidence.

Homeopathy for teenagers.

Adolescence is a time of need for support, especially for psychological reassurance. The typical adolescence feels awkward and vulnerable, as they struggle to put on a brave face of youthful experience and competence. This time might be equally painful for a teenager themselves and for the family as well.

The adolescent finds great relief when they understand that their parents can appreciate their problems and understand from their own experience what they are going through because of the hormonal, metabolic, physical and psychological adjustments they must make.

Homeopathy is harmonious with each adolescent stage of formation without imposing or creating additional pressure. Parents can help teenagers by using a natural approach for physical and psychological problems, such as bullying, separation, surgery, problems within a one-parent or step family, bereavement. Any instability at home can create in a teenager the feelings of anxieties, guilt, shame or anger. Homeopathy is of a great value because it helps to put much of this emotional turmoil into balance. It also helps adolescents to not feel so strange, unusual or alienated.

Homeopathy for women.
Homeopathy for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

Not recognised until 1930s, PMS is a condition that causes considerable suffering to at least 60% of women.

All the well-known symptoms of PMS, such as mood swings, depression, anxieties, food cravings, bloating and water retention are mostly due to imbalance in hormones, sluggish liver function and partially due to the nutrients deficiency, such as magnesium, zinc, chromium, essential fatty acids.

In various countries (India, Japan), where the diet is extremely rich in plant-based phytoestrogens (soy beans) PMS is almost unknown.

In many traditional cultures menstruation is recognized as a time of purification and spiritual power, where there is a greater attunement to both, the universe and a one᾿s own deeper nature. With the use of appropriate homeopathic remedies we can be closer to this ideal.

Homeopathy and the Menopause.

Menopause is a normal part of the aging process that occurs around age of fifty. During the pre-menopause period, periods become irregular and symptoms can be almost identical to PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome).

During the menopause itself over 75 % of women experience hot flashes. The risk for menopausal women is increased bone loss (osteoporosis) and heart disease. The liver is highly involved in hormone metabolism and very often requires treatment. The adrenal glands strength is also crucial to successfully negotiating this life period.

Menopause is a time of profound transformation on all levels: physical, psychological and spiritual. Unfortunately, this natural time of change has been medicalized and characterised as a time of decline and withering away.

Due to the increased awareness of the danger of HRT, more and more women are turning to complementary medicines in order to help them with this transition in life.

Homeopathy for men.

Men often lead stressful lives, but are far less careful about looking after their health than women. For instance, men have fewer health checks and visit their GP less often so when they do go for treatment it is often because they have been persuaded to. Consequently, by the time they seek medical help, their condition may have become serious.

Men tend to engage in riskier activities - fast driving, hazardous occupations, etc, so they have more likely to have accidents. Between the ages of 15 and 45 years, accidental deaths are five times higher than in women. Homeopathic remedies address not just physical, but also emotional aspect of injuries or trauma, making recovery and healing smoother and quicker. Remedies can make any surgical intervention and recovery much less traumatic.

For men, it is not just the physical health that suffers - their mental and emotional health is also at risk. Many men find it hard to express their discomfort or attend to the early indications that they are unwell - so, it is not surprising that a crisis develops. It may be a physical illness, like a heart attack, or an emotional breakdown, midlife crisis. 75% of all suicides in the UK are male, with the rate for young men currently rising alarmingly. So young men are falling prey to what were previously considered to be female anxieties connected to their image, as evidenced by the rising rate of male anorexia.

Research confirms the importance of mind-body connections in disease. American studies have shown that those who suffer frequent bouts of depression are 40% more likely to develop heart disease - the main premature killer of men in the UK.

Homeopathy takes into consideration the fact that all people are different constitutionally and the reason for a person to have depression and its symptoms of such are different. There are remedies to address every person and aetiology of the problem individually.
